Mike Lamb had four hits, including a home run and a double, and drove in three runs to lead the Astros to a 5-1 win over the Mariners. Lamb’s RBI double scored the first run in the second inning. Lamb’s two-run homer in the sixth gave Houston a 4-1 lead.
Ivan Rodriguez drove in five runs in the Tigers’ 12-8 victory over the Phillies. Rodriguez hit a three-run shot to center field with two outs to make it 7-2 during a five-run fifth inning. He also added a two-run single in the sixth inning when Sean Casey had a two-run double.
Dustin Pedroia had a career-high five RBIs and five hits in the Red Sox’s 10-2 victory over the Giants. Pedroia is batting .417 over his last 32 games to raise his average from .172 to .331. Pedroia has homered in three different ballparks during his four-month career.

Barry Zito gave up seven runs — six earned — on five hits and four walks in 5 1/3 innings in the Giants’ 10-2 loss to the Red Sox. He had been 3-1 with a 1.50 ERA in his previous four starts. Pedroia’s homer tied game 2-2 before Zito got his first out.
Twins’ starter Scott Baker cruised through the first three innings before hitting a wall in the fourth. After Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder singled to start the inning, Baker struck out Bill Hall. After a hit batter, Geoff Jenkins followed with a grand slam.
James Shields was beaten for the first time in 14 starts in the Devil Rays’ 12-2 loss to the Rockies, who scored four times in the first on four hits, including the back-to-back homers. He gave up six hits and five runs in six innings. It was his shortest outing of the season.
