Marguerite M. Carpenter Lepo, died of natural causes at the age of 97. Mardy was a long time resident of Evanston. During her life on earth, she dedicated herself to her family and to the community. Her life as a volunteer included working at St. Vincent’s Orphanage – rocking babies, working at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston and at Cook County Jail. She held various offices in the Saint Athanasius PTA and was a member of Church Women United. Mardy was always considered by her family to be an awesome baker of bread and chocolate chip cookies. Mardy never missed daily Mass and in that giving spirit of hers, Mardy has donated her body to the Anatomical Gift Association of Illinois. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Mathias and a brother and two sisters. She is survived by her children, John Mathias Lepo, Mary Suzann (Patrick) Broderick, Patricia Ann (Richard) Lindner, Sarah D. (Thomas) Calhoun; her two brothers, John and Richard (Jeanette) Carpenter, both of Freeport, IL; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. We will miss her. A memorial service will be held June 23, 2007 at 10 a.m. at Saint Athansius. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Vitas Hospice, 580 Waters Edge, Lombard, IL 60148.
