*George Clooney has joined a protest to stop construction of parking lots and a promenade in the northern Italian lakeside town where he owns a villa because he fears his presence is turning Laglio into a tourist trap.

*David Hasselhoff has demanded an apology from The Sun, a British tabloid, for publishing a story Tuesday that claimed a “boozy” Hasselhoff knocked over tables and demanded drinks from strangers at a nightclub in Hollywood after his victory in a child custody battle. Hasselhoff denied the allegations and is demanding a printed apology stating the article was false.

*Ashley Jensen, who plays wardrobe mistress-seamstress Christina McKinney in the ABC sitcom “Ugly Betty,” and her husband, actor Terence Beesley, have sewn up a deal to buy a house in L.A. for close to $1.7 million. The British couple were married in Big Sur in January in a ceremony attended only by a minister and their dog, Barney, who served as ring bearer.
