A DuPage County judge on Friday ordered Chicago officials to stop using heavy equipment to trim trees or perform other maintenance functions that could disrupt the soil in an area of Bensenville slated for demolition as part of the O’Hare International Airport expansion project.

Judge Kenneth Popejoy, who issued a preliminary injunction Wednesday forbidding Chicago to tear down any of the vacant 370 properties it owns in the area, refined his order after Bensenville officials complained that Chicago was removing trees.
