Talk about your hoop dreams.
Last weekend, 200 basketball players descended upon Arlington, Texas, to participate in the inaugural NBA Development League predraft camp. Perhaps 10 will be signed to a contract, a league official said.
That didn’t stop players of all talent levels from dreaming big dreams. Some players came with a legitimate chance. Most had no shot. Still others came for a larger purpose. And one — K.C. Johnson, the Tribune’s Bulls beat reporter — came to document the weekend from a unique perspective — as a participant.
But following a full weekend of competition and camaraderie, most everybody left with a feeling of accomplishment, having taken their best shot at going pro.
