Norbert A. “Norb” Kienlen, Age 92, a resident of Marco Island, FL, former longtime resident of Elgin, IL, died Friday, Aug. 10, 2007 at Community Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Naperville.
He was born Nov. 27, 1914 in Elgin.
Beloved husband of the late Jean E., nee McQueeney Kienlen, whom he married April 12, 1939; loving father of Larry (Margie) Kienlen of Lisle, IL, Cindy Kienlen of Beverly Shores, IN and Kathy Kienlen Muraszko of Atlanta, GA; adored grandfather of Mark (Susan) Kienlen, Kimberly (John) Raniere, the late Steven and Pete (Rachelle) Kienlen, Kathy (Chris) Behler, Matt and Chris (Anne) Gall; cherished great-grandfather of Kevin, Makayla, Jack, Hank, Jake, Jessica and John Andrew; devoted son of the late Aloysius and Katherine Kienlen; dear brother of the late Don (the late Jean) and Roy (the late Mable) Kienlen; fond uncle of many; loving brother-in-law of the late Ruthmary (Richard “Dick”) Menke.
Norb grew up in Elgin, attended Elgin High School and was a graduate of Northwestern University School of Business.
He worked for the Elgin National Watch Co. for many years and later owned and operated Dundee Supermart, Dundee, IL. Norb was a champion handball player in his youth and middle age and enjoyed playing tennis into his eighties and golf into his nineties.
Memorial Visitation Tuesday, Aug. 14, 4 to 6 p.m. atFriedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.
Memorial Services will follow at 6 p.m. in the funeral home.
Interment: PRIVATE. In lieu of flowers, memorials to: Alzheimer’s Association, 4709 Golf Rd. #1015, Skokie, IL 60076.
