*The Friday night premiere of the Disney Channel TV movie “High School Musical 2” set numerous ratings records and delivered the largest single audience in basic-cable history, according to preliminary ratings reports provided by Disney. In early estimates, the debut of “Musical 2” drew 17.2 million viewers nationwide.

*Jordin Sparks has signed the record contract that comes with winning “American Idol.” The 17-year-old inked a deal with Jive Records in conjunction with 19Recordings, the label managed by “Idol” creator Simon Fuller. Her debut album drops in November.

*Jacob Adams, who died Aug. 3 at the Brentwood, Calif., home of Ving Rhames, most likely did not die of bites from Rhames’ dogs, county coroner’s officials said Friday..
