THREE UP

Michael Young drove in a career-high seven runs, including a go-ahead grand slam in the eighth, as Texas beat Oakland. The shortstop drove in two runs in the Rangers’ six-run second. His double in fourth tied the game at 7 and his third career slam won it.

Tim Hudson held Washington to seven hits in a complete game, the first by an Atlanta pitcher. Hudson (16-8) needed only 100 pitches for his 10th career shutout and 21st complete game. He’s 4-0 vs. the Nats this season, allowing two runs in 30 innings.

Greg Dobbs had a pinch-hit grand slam as the Phillies beat the Mets for the eighth straight time. It was his first career grand slam and his third pinch-hit homer. Dobbs also helped beat the Mets 3-2 on Friday with a pinch-hit sacrifice fly in the 10th inning.

THREE DOWN

In three-game sweep by Phillies, the Mets made eight errors — six on Sunday. It was the most errors by the Mets since six at Montreal on Sept. 13, 2002. Shortstop Jose Reyes made two errors on one play, stopping his career-best errorless streak at 43 games.

Horacio Ramirez has been pulled from the Mariners’ rotation, one day after lasting only four batters in a 6-2 loss. “Maybe he needs to take a step back and take a deep breath,” manager John McLaren said. He’s 8-7 with a 7.16 ERA and has lost three straight games.

Pinch-runner Josh Barfield was tagged out in rundown trying to go from second to third on one-out grounder to short in 9th inning of Indians’ 1-run loss to K.C. “I thought it was up the middle,” he said. “I was hoping they’d mess it up. What can you do?”
