I LOVE …

… the weekly e-mail newsletter from Wine Knows [1130 E. Washington St.] wine shop in Grayslake. “Phil Vino” always has a great list of tastings, dinner events and other goings-on in Lake County. And though I’m six months pregnant and can’t have any wine for a few months, the newsletter is funny, so I still love to receive it. Can’t wait until December though!

Allison Drew, Waukegan

… the delicious food and great service at Giron’s [9110 Broadway Ave.] in Brookfield. It’s like having dinner at a friend’s house and you have to have the hot, fresh bread they serve.

Jackie Lietz, Brookfield

… the chocolate chip coffee cake from Bridgeport Bakery [2907 S. Archer Ave.]. If you love chocolate you need to try this. Chocolate in the middle, chocolate frosting on top, and chocolate chips all over. I just drooled on my keyboard.

Greg Laurencell, Oak Lawn

I HATE …

… people who shop in pairs, leaving one to hold a place in a long line at the store while the other goes off and brings back more and more items to their already full cart. Folks, that’s just plain boorish.

Mazurka Wojciechowska, Chicago

… seeing people throwing cigarette butts out the window of their hybrid vehicles. Is this a new definition of ironic?

Jenn Myers, McHenry

… when people “overdose” with cologne or perfume before they get on an airplane, attend a concert, or join a crowd somewhere else. It’s nauseating and distracting. They should look around. Are ushers being asked to relocate people who can’t stand the overwhelming fumes?

John Ripley, Lombard
