The Central High School National Historic Site visitor center was dedicated Monday to mark the 50th anniversary of the desegregation battle in Little Rock, Ark. On Sept. 25, 1957, nine black students entered the school after President Dwight Eisenhower ordered federal troops to help enforce a desegregation order. “I really didn’t understand at 14 we were helping change the educational landscape here in America,” said one of the students, Carlotta Walls LaNier. “All we wanted to do is go to school.”
