Stephen Fred Longo, 87, of St. Charles, IL died Sept.
25, 2007.
Born March 13, 1920 in Jamaica, New York.
Stephen was the son of Faro and Anna Longo.
His beloved older sister Jean died in 1999.
Steve married the love of his life Estelle Hinchcliffe on August 7, 1943 and they have three daughters: Barbara A. Smith (Alan) of Toronto, Lorraine Strigel (Jay) of Algonquin and Lois Kasznia (James) of Pennsylvania.
Steve and Estelle’s grandchildren are Matthew, Stephen, Bradley and Alexis.
Stephen proudly served his country throughout World War II, and ended the war as Lieutenant Commander of the USS White Plains/ VC4.
During the Korean War he served as senior officer, Boston Naval Reserve.
After leaving the Service, Steve joined Western Electric where he remained until his retirement in 1978.
He maintained his ties with AT&T as a proud member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, donating his time to the charitable works of this organization.
Stephen was an avid clock and watch collector serving many chapters of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors and was named a Fellow of the NAWCC. He was passionate about all his clocks but particularly of his prized Sangamo collection.
A military memorial service will be held on Friday, at 1:30, Sept.
29 at Abraham Lincoln National Memorial Cemetery in Elwood, IL. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept.
29 from 3 to 5 p.m., atYurs Funeral Homein St. Charles, IL. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane Society.
