A judge in Jena, La., ordered a black teenager back to jail, deciding the fight that put him in the national spotlight violated terms of his probation for a previous conviction, his attorney said. Cops: Mom bought guns

The mother of a 14-year-old who authorities say had a cache of guns and explosives in his bedroom for a possible school attack was charged Friday with buying her son three weapons in Norristown, Pa. Michele Cossey, 46, bought her home-schooled son, Dillon, a .22-caliber handgun, a .22-caliber rifle and a 9 mm semiautomatic rifle, authorities said. Dillon felt bullied and tried to recruit a boy for a high school attack, authorities said.

Dutch ban ‘shroom sales

The Netherlands will ban the sale of hallucinogenic mushrooms, the government announced Friday, rolling back one element of the country’s permissive drug policy after a teenager on a school visit jumped to her death after taking the fungus. The decision will go into effect within several months, said Wim van der Weegen, a Justice Ministry spokesman.

Blame chicken nuggets

A 6-year-old Broomfield, Colo., boy who tried to drive his grandmother’s car to Applebee’s said he won’t do it again. Josh Barber said he was hungry for some chicken nuggets when he woke up early Tuesday while his grandmother was still sleeping. His mother was recovering from surgery at the time and his father was still at work. Barber backed up 75 feet from her house into a transformer, knocking out electricity and phone service to dozens of townhouses.
