The CTA plans to eliminate 43 more bus routes and hike fares to as high as $3.25 per ride in January under the 2008 “doomsday” budget announced Friday. That’s on top of the previously announced 39 bus routes that could be cut Nov. 4.
The likelihood of the plan being implemented has increased due to a stalemate in Springfield over transit funding.
