*Roger Ebert will be honored at the 17th annual Gotham Awards for a career of championing independent cinema. The 65-year-old critic will receive the honor at the Nov. 27 event in Brooklyn. The awards celebrate independent movies as well as films set in New York.
*Michael Tylo Jr., 19, son of “The Bold and the Beautiful” actress Hunter Tylo, drowned in a pool late Thursday, the Clark County, Nev., coroner, Michael Murphy, told People.com. “It has already been determined that this was an accident,” Murphy said.
*T.I.’s lawyers asked a federal judge Friday in Atlanta to release the rapper on $2.2 million bond and allow him to have monitored home confinement while he awaits trial on weapons charges. Prosecutors countered that because T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris, has a criminal history and was arrested while allegedly trying to buy machine guns, he poses a flight risk and danger to the community.
