Formerly of ESPN fame, Patrick hooked up with Sports Illustrated, where he will write a weekly column and have his new syndicated daily radio show simulcast on si.com. Patrick, 51, probably will be plugged into the print-style, sound-bite format when he makes his debut in the magazine in January.

The longtime SI columnist announced he was leaving his prime back page location at Sports Illustrated to join ESPN, where his words will be seen at ESPN The Magazine, espn.com and heard on ESPN’s “SportsCenter.” “For them, I fill the wiseguy, middle-aged, large-nose, Irish hole they have,” Reilly said. “They don’t have anything like that.”
