Officers found 11 high-powered rifles inside the home of a South Elgin man who briefly barricaded himself in the house Friday after a fight with his girlfriend, police said.
Edwin Millard, 42, of the 00-99 block of North Gilbert Street surrendered to police after a 10-minute standoff, but was shot twice with a stun gun when he fought with three paramedics as he was being taken to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation, said South Elgin Police Chief Christopher Merritt.
Millard was charged with three felony counts of aggravated battery, one count of domestic battery and one count of obstructing a peace officer.
Millard’s daughter, Alyssa, 20, who also lives in the house, was charged with obstructing a peace officer. Edwin Millard has a bail hearing Saturday.
