This mesmerizingly soft, generously sized, boldly designed Paisley Blanket has me torn between wanting to cuddle up in it and display it on the wall. I know: I’ll get two!

The 50-by-60-inch blanket, from the cool and conscientious company In2Green, is a woven concoction of cotton yarn and a dash of acrylic. What makes it coveted are its texture and hip, graphic pattern. What makes it green is the yarn — it’s blended from cotton scraps that have been left over in factories. “These are clippings that would normally go into a landfill,” says In2Green designer Lori Slater.

Because the cotton scraps are orphaned remnants of would-be T-shirts, the blankets are extra soft. “They’re prewashed, and they get even softer with washing,” Slater says. The fact that the scraps are salvaged in already-dyed color groupings means no redying is required, and, consequently, no additional harmful chemicals are produced or released into the environment.
