The annual Open Enrollment Fair will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 30 in Addams Junior High School, 700 S. Springinsguth Rd., Schaumburg. Parking also will be available at St. Marcelline’s Church to the south. Parents can learn about school-of-choice programs available in seven of the district’s elementary schools. Following a short presentation, parents can visit booths and meet with representatives from each school. School-of-choice programs include sign language, multi-age classes, dual-language Japanese and Spanish, Early Instrumental Music, and a varied curriculum with parental involvement. Tours of the schools will be set after the fair.

A benefit concert and All-State Home performance by the Prospect High School Symphony Orchestra will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in Prospect High School cafeteria, 801 W. Kensington Rd., Mt. Prospect. Prospect High School junior violinist Evelyn O’Connell, winner of the District 214 Honors Competition, will perform with the orchestra. The Fine Arts Department will present its Winter Jazz Festival at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Johnson Auditorium at Barrington High School, 616 W. Main St. The concert will feature the high school’s Jazz Ensemble and Rithum Machine jazz bands as well as the Station and Prairie Middle School jazz bands. The bands will collect used band instruments and used prom dresses to be donated to Tipitina’s Foundation in New Orleans, which will distribute donations to schools affected by Hurricane Katrina.
