DRUG WATCH: Spurred by a massive recall of the drug heparin, Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) on Sunday said the federal government should require foreign drug manufacturers to allow American inspectors to monitor factories. Schumer said he and Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) will introduce legislation to increase Food and Drug Administration funding and require the overseas monitoring.

EVERGLADES DEATH: A tour bus and a pickup truck collided Sunday on a two-lane road in the Everglades, killing one person, authorities said. Police would not say which vehicle the victim was traveling in.

STUDENTS REMEMBERED: Mourners on Sunday marked the deaths of two slain college students. Hundreds gathered in Athens, Ga., for Eve Carson, student body president at the University of North Carolina. In an interview, meanwhile, the mother of the accused slayer of Auburn University’s Lauren Burk apologized to her family.
