James P. Smith, 89, formerly of Maywood, LaGrange Park and Hot Springs Village, AR. Beloved husband of the late Jane L. , nee Gardner; fond father of Kent E. (Pamela) and Brian C. (Bonnie); grandfather of Julie (Dan) Smith Jerger, Stephen, Brett (Connie) and Brooke (Daniel) May; great-grandfather of Morgan and Greyson.
Former member of First Presbyterian Church of River Forest, IL and the Presbyterian Kirk in the Pines Church in Hot Springs Village, AR. He worked as an engineer with Motorola, retiring in 1983 and was a wiz at ping-pong tournaments with his grandchildren.
Services and interment Acacia Park Cemetery, 11 a.m. Saturday, March 15.
