‘Client-9’ costs Clinton a delegate

(Down) Scratch one superdelegate. When Eliot Spitzer stepped down as New York governor after a liaison with a prostitute was revealed, he lost his Democratic superdelegate status, and Hillary Clinton lost one vote. Spitzer’s successor, Lt. Gov. David Paterson, already was a superdelegate backing Clinton.

A surge of optimism about Iraq war

(Up) John McCain got good news on a key issue this week. In a Pew poll, 53 percent of respondents said the U.S. ultimately will succeed in Iraq — up from 42 percent in September. This issue is perhaps the sharpest distinction between the presumptive Republican nominee and his anti-war Democratic foes.

Ferraro injects race into the race

(Down) Former vice presidential candidate Geraldine Ferraro was forced to quit the Clinton campaign after she said, “If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position.” Obama said it was “ridiculous” to suggest that his race gave him an advantage in the presidential contest. Clinton repudiated the remark.
