*Bluegrass star Ricky Skaggs will receive an honorary doctorate from Boston’s Berklee College of Music during his Grand Ole Opry performance Tuesday. The honor puts Skaggs in the company of luminaries such as Duke Ellington, Sting, B.B. King, Dizzy Gillespie, Loretta Lynn and Paul Simon.
*David Lynch says his non-profit foundation will donate $1 million for scholarships to study meditation at the Maharishi University of Management in Des Moines. Lynch, who directed “Blue Velvet” and the “Twin Peaks” series, is a longtime practitioner of Transcendental Meditation.
