Flowers aren’t the only things in bloom come springtime. Check out this new crop of bars popping up on the Chicago nightlife scene.

Cityscape Bar

It’s hard to believe this 2,750-square-foot corner location (Location! Location!) was wasted on conference rooms and office space — it works much better as the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza’s new lounge. The central oval bar provides great views of the lounge scene as well as the neighboring Merchandise Mart, the Chicago River and the Sears Tower. Snack on upscale bar appetizers as you sip beer, wine and signature cocktails. 350 W. Mart Center Drive, 15th floor; 312-836-5000.

Aberdeen

This Wicker Park corner lounge — last home to Celebrity — was gutted and transformed into a sports bar by day (with six TVs and a menu of burgers, sandwiches and salads) and a laid-back lounge by night (resident deejays Jem and Sye Young create a party vibe on weekends). Wood paneling and chandeliers add a sophisticated, rustic element to the bar, which offers bottled and draft beer, signature drinks and bottle service. 1856 W. North Ave.; 773-365-0091.

O’Shaughnessy’s Public House

Named after the owner’s mother, who hails from Tipperary, Ireland, this Ravenswood pub is slated to set up shop in the former Zephyr Cafe space this April. Located in the historic Pickard China Building, the corner pub stands out with a rich red exterior with gold lettering. Inside, a custom-built wood bar, exposed brick and stained glass shipped from Ireland create a cozy atmosphere. Menu plans include traditional Emerald Isle eats, standard bar fare and healthier dishes made with local or organic ingredients. 4557 N. Ravenswood Ave.; 773-944-9896.
