ARMENIANS RALLY: Several hundred opposition supporters rallied across the Armenian capital Friday after authorities lifted a 20-day state of emergency. The demonstrators protested the March 1 arrests of dozens of opposition activists after clashes with police during a protest against allegedly rigged elections. Eight people were killed and dozens were injured in those clashes.

KURDS RALLY: Tens of thousands of Kurds celebrated a spring festival in Turkey’s southeast, and many chanted support for a Kurdish rebel group in a challenge to the Turkish state. Scattered clashes marred festivities in several cities.

ARMOR FOR ABBAS: Israel has agreed to let Russia deliver 25 armored vehicles to Palestinian security forces in the West Bank, a Defense Ministry spokesman said, a move meant to bolster moderate Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
