HOK Chicago hired Karen Laveen as vice president and senior practice leader of its Advance Strategies Group and Randy Buescher as a senior associate and project manager in its International Studio.
Michael Czyrka was promoted to principal-in-charge at BSA LifeStructures from associate principal.
Communication
Insidedge, the employee communications consultancy of the Interpublic Group of Cos., promoted Kirstin Hinchcliff to senior vice president.
Richard Jurek was appointed chief executive officer of Inland Communications Inc., the in-house marketing and communications company of The Inland Real Estate Group of Cos. in Oak Brook. Jurek previously served as the global director of corporate communications at The Northern Trust Co.
Financial services
Scott Nelson was appointed chief executive officer of HuaMei Capital Co., a financial-services company formed in October partly owned by China Merchants Securities Holdings Co. U.S. principals in the firm include former U.S. Sen. Adlai Stevenson III and Leo Melamed, chairman emeritus of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. Nelson was previously head of the Asian Clients Group for JPMorgan Securities
Cary Stier was named head of the U.S. hedge fund and mutual fund practice at Deloitte. He replaces Garry Moody, who retired.
Health care
Bannockburn-based Omron Healthcare Inc. named Bob Kondraske chief operating officer. Most recently Kondraske was vice president of sales development at Pennsylvania-based McNeil Consumer Healthcare, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson.
Insurance
Howard Beacham was named president, CEO and director of BCS Financial Corp., which through its subsidiaries is the primary source for insurance and reinsurance for the Blue Cross and Blue Shield system. Most recently Beacham was a business adviser to the board of trustees of Group Hospitalization and Medical Services Inc. in Washington, D.C.

Diane Romza-Kutz was elected chair of Neal, Gerber & Eisenberg’s new life sciences practice.
Professional services
Stout Risius Ross Inc., a financial and operational advisory firm, named J. Bradley Sargent a managing director in its dispute advisory and forensic services group. Sargent is practice leader of the forensic services group.
Arbor Strategy Group, a branding consulting firm, promoted Ralph Blessing to senior partner and managing director of its Chicago office.
