The man accused in the 1983 abduction, rape and slaying of a 10-year-old Naperville girl is in segregation after a dispute with another inmate in the DuPage County Jail.
Brian Dugan apparently insulted another inmate and the inmate shoved him, court officials said. The other inmate was a 44-year-old man in jail on a domestic battery charge, authorities said.
Neither man was seriously injured in the dispute, which occurred earlier this week.
Dugan, 51, faces the death penalty if convicted of killing Jeanine Nicarico. He was serving two life sentences for other murders when he was charged in Nicarico’s death and moved to DuPage County to await trial.
His next court appearance is scheduled for April 10. The trial is set for early next year.
