Diane D. Maier, nee Duerk, 64, of Elmhurst, beloved wife of Allan R.; fond mother of Scott A. (Laura) Maier, Lisa D. (Tom) Michalski and Mark D. (Maggie) Maier; grandmother of Duerk A., Jillian A.,Jacqueline A. and Jude A. Maier, Piper R. Michalski, Aidan M. and Patrick E. Maier and the late Thomas A. Michalski; dear daughter of Delora F. and the late Harland F. Duerk; sister of John H. (Loraine) Duerk, James F. (Faye) Duerk, Marie E. (Larry) Font, Lori A. (Hal) Hanenkrath and the late Barbara Duerk.
She attended Concordia Teachers College, graduating in 1965.
On July 10, 1965, she married Allan.
Her teaching career began at Trinity Lutheran School in Hicksville, NY where she taught 2nd grade.
After raising her children, she resumed her career where she served as a 6th grade Math and English teacher, was 6th grade coordinator and concluded by retiring in June 2006 after five years as Assistant Principal at Bryan Middle School, Elmhurst.
Visitation at Ahlgrim Funeral Home,567 S. Spring Rd., Elmhurst from 2 to 8 p.m.. Sunday.
In state at Epiphany Ev. Lutheran Church, 314 W. Vallette St., Elmhurst from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Monday, May 19.
Interment private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials will be appreciated for the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
