SERBIAN PROGRESS: Serbia’s nationalists and Socialists from late strongman Slobodan Milosevic’s party said they are close to forming a coalition government that would sideline pro-Western parties’ election gains. The anti-Western parties said they had agreed on a general set of principles for a new “national” government.

PELOSI IN ISRAEL: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi led a bipartisan congressional delegation to Israel to mark the 60th anniversary of the country’s founding. The visit by the 13 lawmakers came as President George W. Bush concluded his trip to the Jewish state to celebrate the occasion.
