Work to replace rapid transit track and install a new train control system continues this week in the Loop, causing late-night delays for CTA trains through the stretches of Lake and Wabash.

Brown, Orange, Green and Pink Lines travel through the affected areas. Trains will be diverted to Van Buren and Wells sections.

The work begins at 10 p.m. Monday, with the Brown Line set to travel on the inner Loop track in a clockwise direction, beginning at Clark/Lake and wrapping around to Merchandise Mart before resuming the normal route, CTA officials said.

Northbound Green Line trains also will be affected Monday as they avoid the outer track along Wabash and Lake to travel instead along the inner Loop tracks of Van Buren and Wells. Work there is set to wrap up by 4 a.m. Tuesday.

On Tuesday evening, the Orange and Pink Lines and southbound Green Line will be diverted. Routine service along the three lines is expected to resume before the morning commute Wednesday.
