Phony rolls of “dimes” that police say Michael G. Jackson of Detroit tried to pass off at a bank. That would be $650, except each roll had 48 pennies sandwiched between two dimes, making it worth 68 cents — or $88.40 in total. Jackson was sentenced Thursday on a charge of larceny by false pretenses.
