WOMAN STABBED: Milwaukee police have arrested a 70-year-old man accused of stabbing to death 65-year-old Elisabeth Witte of Whitefish Bay in a downtown parking garage Sunday. Police said the victim had a restraining order against the man, who was not identified.
FIRE RELIEF: Calmer, cooler weather helped California firefighters get a handle Sunday on a destructive wildfire in the Santa Cruz Mountains. The blaze, which had destroyed at least 20 homes, was about 50 percent contained. About 2,000 residents have been asked or ordered to evacuate their homes.
