A Sudan Airways jetliner burst into flames late Tuesday after it landed, killing about 100 people, Sudanese state TV in Khartoum reported. More than 200 people were believed to be aboard and a higher casualty toll was feared.

Three Greek islanders from Lesbos told a court Tuesday that gay women insult the island’s identity by calling themselves lesbians. The plaintiffs — two women and a man — want to ban a Greek gay rights group from using the word “lesbian” in its name.

A judge in Sydney halted a drug conspiracy trial Tuesday after some jurors were found to have been doing a sudoku puzzle while evidence was being given. The trial had been running for 66 days and had cost taxpayers an estimated $950,000.
