Chicago pride
As I watched history unfold on Nov. 4, America embodied in Grant Park, I couldn’t be more proud to be a Chicagoan, and an American. We missed two chances for city celebration in October, but our games now pale. We were meant this year to celebrate on the world’s stage a most significant moment in history.
Our country turning.
America renewed.
And Chicago at the epicenter.

Sharing joy
When I think back on the most memorable historic moments in my lifetime, so many of them are tragic. That’s why it was such a privilege to be in Grant Park Nov. 4 sharing true joy and optimism with so many. Let’s hope the feeling is long lasting.
— Joyce Porter, Oak Park
Grant Park heroes
The Grant Park gathering for Barack Obama was an impressive sight for all viewers irrespective of political affiliation. Many articles/editorials have been written about the success of the event. However, I have not seen anything written about the unsung heroes of the evening: Police Supt. Jody Weis and the Chicago Police Department. They did a great job of crowd protection and crowd control so that all could enjoy the evening. Hats off to them for a difficult job well-done.
