Unless you’ve been living under a rock or in your mom’s basement (we’re looking at you, Bag Boy), you’ve heard that the Cardinals used to be based in Chicago. The Cards’ last season in the Windy City was 50 years ago, but that shouldn’t stop Bears fans from claiming them (after all, the Bears aren’t going to be in the Super Bowl anytime soon). But, how do they measure up to the Bears? Consider the following.
That was soooo Bears
– Kurt Warner does his best Rex Grossman imitation and muffs the handoff to Edgerrin James on the Cardinals’ first drive.
– First pass of the game is a 38-yard completion for the Steelers. Are the Cards using the Bears’ Cover-2 defense?
– The Cards didn’t get their second first down until a couple minutes into the second quarter. That’s actually sooner than the Bears, but still …
– On a key play, a receiver drops a pass. And his name wasn’t Devin Hester.
– In the end, the defense lets them down, and that is soooo Bears.
That was soooo not Bears
– The Cards make a goal-line stand and hold the Steelers to a field goal in the opening drive of the game. Taking notes, Lovie?
– A touchdown pass to the tight end? Yes, Chicago, it can be done.
– Two goal-line stands on the same drive. Pittsburgh settles for a field goal — again. Sense a theme?
– A rally starts with — what? — a drive powered by and finished off with the passing game. It can be done. You need a QB though, Mr. Angelo. And a Larry Fitzgerald-type receiver.
– And the comeback is complete with the same Mr. Fitzgerald. Your move, Bears.
