Random fact: Because people drive more safely during the daylight, researchers found that daylight-saving time reduces fatal car crashes. One study concluded that year-round DST would prevent 195 deaths of people in cars and 171 pedestrian fatalities.

The Chiditarod — that wacky urban event where hipsters push and pull shopping carts through city streets — is Saturday.
The event, which doubles as a food drive, will start at 12:30 p.m. at Hubbard Street and Wolcott Avenue, and organizers expect it to end about 3:30 p.m. at the Bottom Lounge in West Town, the Tribune reports.
