White Sox: Jim Thome’s two-run homer in the eighth inning against the Blue Jays was the 548th of his career, tying him for 13th on the all-time list with Mike Schmidt.
Yankees: Reliever Brian Bruney blamed an 8 1/2 -minute wait during an umpires’ video review for causing a strained flexor muscle in his right elbow. Bruney went on the disabled list April 25, six days after he was warming up in the bullpen during a video review of a homer by teammate Jorge Posada.
Angels: Manager Mike Scioscia said Vladimir Guerrero (pectoral muscle) is on track to begin a short, minor-league rehabilitation assignment Thursday or Friday and could be activated to return to the lineup as soon as Memorial Day.
Athletics: Nomar Garciaparra (calf) could be ready to return on Wednesday. He ran the bases, fielded grounders at third and took batting practice before the game at Tampa Bay.
National League
Brewers: Second baseman Rickie Weeks will miss the rest of the season because of a tear in his left wrist. Weeks hurt himself while striking out Sunday in St. Louis. … Catcher Jason Kendall singled in the second inning against the Cardinals for his 2,000th hit, becoming the eighth full-time catcher to reach that milestone.
Mets: Carlos Delgado needs surgery on his right hip to repair a torn labrum. There was no immediate word on when he might return.
Cardinals: The team hopes outfielder Rick Ankiel (shoulder) and pitcher Chris Carpenter (side muscle) both can rejoin the team Wednesday.
Braves: Left-hander Tom Glavine (shoulder) made approximately 50 pitches in a simulated game in hopes that his arm will be strong enough for an appearance Saturday at Triple-A Gwinnett.
