Lake Michigan (Chicago lakefront)

** Salmon quiet and perch still not in, although there are reports of scattered catches at Montrose Harbor. Some rock bass also reported hitting along lakefront while bluegills biting in lagoons.

Lake Michigan (Lake County)

*** Good action north and south of Waukegan as boaters land cohos and trout in 9- to 30-foot depths on tinsel flies or dodgers. A few browns, steelheads and kings biting in 70- to 120-feet. Perch also biting south of Waukegan in 40- to 70-feet on large fatheads off the bottom. Shoreline anglers hitting perch off Government Pier while some cohos, browns and steelhead reported at South Rocks.

Southeast Wisconsin `

** 1/2 Kenosha trollers catching coho near the state line on dodger and fly combinations while shoreline action slow. Racine pier fishing has produced occasional browns. Milwaukee shore fishing also slow, but trollers finding browns and lake trout in 35- to 50-feet and chinooks up to 100 feet deep. State DNR has increased walleye bag limits on inland lakes with 163 sites going from one to two per day to five. Check specific lakes for limits.

Southwest Michigan `

** 1/2 Grand Haven anglers finding salmon in 90- to 115-feet on flies and spoons while salmon reported around piers. St. Joseph boaters catching chinooks, coho and lake trout while some walleye catches reported by shoreline anglers. Walleye also hitting on the St. Joseph River on night crawlers.

Chain O’Lakes

** 1/2 Walleye remain good in currents, especially on Lake Marie and Fox Lake and near bridges. Crappies good in warm shallows while bass hitting on plastics as they move into beds for spawning as warmer weather moves in.

Kankakee River

** 1/2 Good crappie catches in ditches at the Point in Indiana. Largemouth good in Black Oak Bayou on live minnows, plastics and spinners.

Catfish very good at Kankakee River State Park on minnows and cheese baits. Many rock bass also being caught on twister tails, minnows or night crawlers.
