Cubs 8, Milwaukee 2
Derrek Lee and Jake Fox hit home runs to back the pitching of Ted Lilly, the Cubs’ only All-Star, in a 8-2 victory Sunday over the Milwaukee Brewers.
It gave the Cubs three wins in the four-game series with the Brewers at Wrigley Field, with the NL Central-leading Cardinals coming in Friday for a four-gamer.
And on Monday, cleanup hitter Aramis Ramirez returns to the lineup after missing two months with a dislocated left shoulder.
Kansas City 6, White Sox 3
The momentum that the White Sox built during the first five games of this seven-game road trip fizzled Sunday.
Left-hander Clayton Richard was tagged for four runs on eight hits in only 3 2/3 innings of a 6-3 loss to the Royals.
The Sox’s loss, their second straight after winning a season-high seven in a row, dropped them into third place in the AL Central. The Sox (42-40) maintained their 2 1/2-game deficit, as Minnesota moved into second place following a 6-2 victory over first-place Detroit.
