The team, which has qualified for the Class 1A playoffs with a 7-1 record, will play its regular-season finale tonight against Rockford Christian (7-1). The playoffs begin next week.
“We’ve got a bunch of kids banged up, a couple are ineligible because of grades,” Molenkamp said. “I don’t want anyone to get hurt. They’ll play their lungs out tonight.”
Hope Academy is a five-year-old school fielding its third varsity football team. The Eagles went 8-2 last year, including a 34-14 loss to eventual Class 1A runner-up Stark County in the first round of the playoffs.
