A McHenry East High School student who died Thursday after a skateboarding accident was described by friends as a popular, compassionate teenager.
“He didn’t care who you were, if there was something wrong, he was determined to figure it out,” said Elizabeth Weber, 15.
By late Friday, more than 800 people had posted online tributes to Alexander Baer, 16, on a site set up after McHenry Township teen was injured on Tuesday.
Police said Baer suffered a head injury while skateboarding on the street near his home on the 1900 block of North Woodlawn Park Avenue. The McHenry County sheriff’s department is investigating the accident.
Baer was taken by medical helicopter to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where he died two days later.
