Kita y Fernanda: Tanya Saracho is, without doubt, one of the most prolific playwrights to emerge from Chicago in recent years. It’s fitting that “Kita y Fernanda,” which earned a Jeff nomination for best new work, opens the doors for Waukegan’s new Clockwise Theatre. The story of a wealthy Mexican immigrant girl in a Texas border town, her depressed mother, and their relationships with the family maid and her strong-willed daughter premiered in 2008 at 16th Street Theater in Berwyn. Peter Pan: Neverland is closer than you think, nestled in the lovely confines of the Morton Arboretum. Lavina Jadhwani directs J.M. Barrie’s classic. This ambulatory production offers a “low impact” version on Sundays, suitable for wheelchairs and strollers.
