Stephen Schlickman, former executive director of the Regional Transportation Authority, has been named director of the Urban Transportation Center at the University of Illinois at Chicago, the university said Monday.
Schlickman directed RTA operations for the last five years. The agency’s directors named longtime Chief Financial Officer Joe Costello as interim executive director.
The RTA is searching for a new chief executive.
The center is part of UIC’s College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs, where Schlickman has taught transportation-project funding and finance as an adjunct lecturer since 1999.
Schlickman’s appointment is pending approval by the University of Illinois board of trustees.
