An Elgin man involved in a police standoff Monday morning claimed in court today he was passed out on his couch during the five-hour ordeal.
Kane County Judge Bruce Lester set bail at $60,000 for Timothy Engel, 28, of the 0-99 block of North Jackson Street, who is charged with possession of a firearm without a valid firearm owner’s identification card and reckless discharge of a firearm, both felonies. He also was charged with misdemeanor possession of ammunition without a valid firearm owner’s identification card.
