Huskies sophomore Devon Butler became the first NIU defender to score this season when he returned an Akron interception 26 yards to give NIU a 29-7 lead going into the halftime.

The talk:

Can the Huskies take advantage of playing at home after a brutal road slate? At home, NIU is 53-38-1 (.581) all-time in MAC games. NIU has won seven of its last eight league home games.

Looking ahead:

After playing on the road four out of the first five games, the Huskies will play host to MAC East favorite Temple in the first of three straight October home games.
