Metra is proposing schedule changes on four lines but asking for rider comment before making a final decision, the commuter rail agency said Tuesday.
The changes are being proposed on the Milwaukee North, Milwaukee West, SouthWest Service and Heritage Corridor lines.
Only certain trains on each line would see changes, Metra said. In most cases, the proposed changes adjust train departure times from certain stops and running times by one to four minutes. Those changes are being proposed to make the schedules more accurate, Metra said.
In two cases on the Milwaukee North Line, train departures would be moved up by 10 minutes. Inbound train No. 2156, which now departs Fox Lake at 7:25 p.m., would depart at 7:15 p.m. to avoid conflicts with outbound train No. 2143 in a single-track section of the line.
Outbound train No. 2121, which leaves Union Station at 2:35 p.m., would leave at 2:25 p.m. The equipment used for that train turns around at Fox Lake, returns to Union Station and then makes another outbound run. Adding 10 minutes at the beginning of the trip will help keep all segments on time, Metra says.
