UConn’s 2013 postseason ban will stand
The Connecticut men’s basketball team will not be allowed to play in the postseason next year, including the NCAA Tournament, the NIT and the Big East Tournament.
That’s the final word after the NCAA’s Committee on Academic Performance on Thursday denied UConn’s appeal to have academic penalties reconsidered.
UConn lost two scholarships last season for poor academic performance from 2007 to 2010 and then was banned when its scores remained too low last year.
The Big East also has chosen to bar from the league tournament any university that the NCAA has declared ineligible for the postseason.
