Penguins to build video screen for fans in church parking lot
Pittsburgh Penguins fans who wish to pray for a Stanley Cup won’t have far to go to watch the games this spring.
The team is planning to erect a video screen in the parking lot of the Epiphany Catholic Church for fans who do not have tickets for the Penguins’ playoff games, according to a report by beat writer Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on his Twitter account (@MolinariPG).
“The Penguins plan to erect a video screen in the parking lot of Epiphany Catholic church so that fans without tickets can watch games there,” Molinari tweeted.
The church is located adjacent to the Penguins’ home at the CONSOL Energy Center, on Washington Place. The Diocese of Pittsburgh sold part of its property to the Sports and Exhibition Authority of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County in 2007, giving the Sports and Exhibition Authority enough land to build the new arena. The Church has been in its current location since 1903.
The Penguins open their first-round playoff series against the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday night at CONSOL Energy Center. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
