Van Gundy says Howard is 50-50 for playoffs
The Orlando Magic on Sunday confirmed reports that All-Star center Dwight Howard would be sidelined 10-14 days and then re-evaluated for the condition of his herniated disc.
But coach Stan Van Gundy revealed on Sunday that Howard may miss the playoffs.
“Look, anytime you have a guy on that kind of timetable you’ve got to assume that the playoffs are a 50-50 thing,” Van Gundy told reporters Sunday.
Without Howard, the Magic may have a difficult time getting past their first-round opponent, probably the Atlanta Hawks.
Howard is averaging 20.6 points and 14.5 rebounds per game and said he has had back pain since March.
Orlando is 2-4 without Howard after beating Cleveland on Sunday.
