RHP Tyler Thornburg, one of the top pitching prospects in the organization, took a perfect game into the eighth inning Monday night for Class AA Huntsville against Tennessee. After surrendering a one-out single, he was removed from the game. Thornburg, 23, is 1-0 with a 0.98 ERA in three starts.

SS Alex Gonzalez remained in Florida with wife Johanna when she wasn’t released from the hospital as expected Tuesday after the birth of a son on Sunday. Gonzalez’s three-day paternity leave ended, however, so the Brewers played a man short against the Dodgers. INF Eric Farris, called up from Class AAA Nashville when Gonzalez left the team, was optioned back to that club Monday.

3B Aramis Ramirez, who has stumbled out of the gate in his first season with the Brewers, had a chat with manager Ron Roenicke on Tuesday about his poor start. Ramirez has lived up to a reputation as a slow starter, as his average is down to .103 after he went 0-for-4 Tuesday in the Brewers’ 5-4 win over the Dodgers.

C George Kottaras’ walk-off, two-run double in the bottom of the ninth Tuesday night against Los Angles gave him eight RBI this season in only 12 at-bats. Kottaras also has three homers.

RHP Yovani Gallardo allowed six runs in 3 2/3 innings on Opening Day against St. Louis, but he has bounced back with consecutive strong starts. Gallardo allowed five hits and one run in seven innings in Chicago, then limited the Dodgers to seven hits and two runs in seven innings Tuesday night at Miller Park.
