BEIRUT, May 22 (Reuters) – Five people were killed on

Tuesday when an explosive device detonated in the Damascus

neighbourhood of Qaboun, the British-based Syrian Observatory

for Human Rights said.

Qaboun, in northern Damascus, has been a centre of

opposition protests demanding the end of President Bashar

al-Assad’s rule. It has seen fighting between Assad loyalists

and rebels.
